Pembroke Fitness Centre Fundraising Fun

The following is a brief log on some of the fun-fundraising efforts we’re involved with. We’ve been actively raising funds for those in need since 1989.

Off to Disney


The BW Running Club is off to Disney, Florida to participate in the Princess 1/2 Marathon, 5km Run.

“Some princesses wear glass slippers… but running shoes are faster.”

Diabetes Education Program

Diabetes Education Program

Tammy participated in the November 1 Launch of the Diabetes Education Program.

Key Objectives:

  1. Provide a safe environment for clients with diabetes and / or pre-diabetes to exercise.
  2. Motivate clients with diabetes and/ or pre-diabetes to integrate exercise into daily routine.
  3. Increase #of diabetes clients participating in exercise programs.
  4. Increase awareness of diabetes prevention and management through enhanced physical activity.

BW Turtle Runners at the Killaloe 5/10km for the Library Fund

The BW running group continued their mission with a run for the Library Fund in Killaloe. The cold weather made for some PB times for many! Well done!

SEPTEMBER 18th, 2011 ~ Army Run, Ottawa ~ Run for Soldier On and the Military Families Fund

MAY 29th, 2011 OTTAWA RACE WEEKEND ~ RUN FOR RESEARCH

Nancy is raising money for CANCER RESEARCH at the OTTAWA HOSPITAL and running in the 10km. What better way to train than to do CARDIO CLASSES at the BW Fitness Centre?!

Come to an extra CARDIO CLASS on Friday @ 4:30 or Sunday @ 10:00. and donate 5$ to the cause.

Members and non-members are welcome (non-members must sign a waiver). So bring a friend!

CARDIO classes will be primarily STEP, but may include BOSU & TAE BOX. You will give your heart a workout, have fun and donate to a great cause. Let’s make cancer history.

Donations: $20.00 (Thank you!)

Total = $305 THANK YOU!

We donated $250 was our pledge to Cancer Research at the Ottawa Hospital.
The remaining $55 was donated to the Relay for Life, June 4th, in Petawawa.

BOOK AND DVD SALE

BEST WESTERN Fitness is held a “Book and DVD Sale” throughout the month of November. All proceeds went towards the Empty Stocking Fund. Thank you to all those who supported the cause!

  • Our GOAL – $500
  • November 17 – $367
  • December 1 – $449
  • December 6 – $517

With donations from staff members, we raised over $675 towards gifts for the Empty Stocking Fund.  Several instructors met for a shopping excursion recently and we filled several carts with great toys! Thank you for your support!
